Oswego Area - Oswego River, Lake Ontario
Oswego River:
According to Larry Muroski of Larry's Oswego Salmon Shop:
The water level has gone up a bit running at 7,150cfs as of this morning. There are a few salmon that have made their way to the dam. Egg sacs, estaz flies, rubber eggs and trout beads are good choices of bait. Throughout the river sheephead and catfish continue to be active and smallmouth bass are biting on minnows and crankbaits. There is some perch activity at Wright’s Landing off the blue crane using minnows and worms. A reminder that seasonal regulations for Great Lakes Tributaries are in effect from September 1 through March 31. Please consult a New York State DEC official regulations guide or they can be found on the DEC Web site at www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/fishguide09.pdf.
Lake Ontario report:
According to Capt. Andy Bliss of Chasin Tail Adventure Charters:
Anglers are finding some very good salmon action from Oswego east to the Pulaski area. The bite was active this morning in 110-140 feet of water – a touch shallower than yesterday. Green E-chip, Mountain Dew, hammer and green glo flies have been working well.

The salmon activion is very good in the eastern end of the lake off the tributaries. Flies and flashers are working well. The bass are active in 16-30 feet of water across the bay and a good perch bite has been reported in 5-10 feet of water using minnows.

According to the Douglaston Salmon Run:
Anglers continue to see fish move every morning before the sun gets on the water. We had some groups of fish move out of the Joss Hole into the flats. There was also some movement between the Wall Hole and the Glide. We still have not seen a huge run of fish but everyday brings some more into the river.
Pulaski Area:
According to Dave Wood of Woody’s Tackle:
The salmon bite is very good particularly off the mouth of the Salmon River. Look in 70-90 feet of water down 60-70 feet. A variety of flies, flashers along with cut bait are working well.
According to Whitaker’s Sport Shop & Motel:
The weather continues to be hot and humid with plenty of sunshine and the temperature reached into the 90's once again today. The lake action continues to get better and better each day. The current grand prize leader in the tournament is 39lbs. and the top 20 are all over 32lbs. A water release is scheduled for the holiday weekend along with some cooler weather. No big numbers yet in the river but there is some activity and when these fish hit the river it's going to be exciting.

Walleye fishing on the lake has been good. Both deep and shallow waters around Shackelton Shoals, Dutchman’s Bar and Lewis Point have seen some action. Smallmouth bass have been a bit spotty but drop-shot rigs, tubes and plastic craws have been working in the deeper water. Largemouth bass have been active along the deep weed lines.

The pond is quiet at this time. You might still find a few bass and northern pike taking spinnerbaits, rubber worms, and small crankbaits.
